The Importance of Windshield Wiper Blade Replacements (Part 2)

It’s not just about safety and possible accidents

There is another factor that’s rather important to many: aesthetics. That’s right; a lot of us are extremely sensitive when it comes to our car’s looks. We want them to be at their best not just from a mechanical, but also from an aesthetic standpoint. It is often the number1 priority in choosing to purchase an automobile. A lot of us want to drive good looking cars and there is nothing shameful about this. What are the main characteristics of a car that will determine its looks?

You have the design itself of course, the size, the shape, the wheels and the lights, then of course the windshield as well. Not just its size and shape what’s important, but also how clean it is. You can take care of it by washing it regularly of course, but a quality wiper should always be a part of your setup. A clean car with a windshield that has a level of spotlessness that makes us question if it’s even there in the first place, is a look we car owners are all after, and for that a windshield wiper is crucial.

Things to look for when purchasing a new windshield wiper

There are a couple of important factors when it comes to the quality of a windshield wiper, like its material, the number of claws holding the blade, or the spring tension. Not all wipers were created equal, and what’s even more important is that regardless of their quality, not every one of them will be a good fit for your car. Material is another important aspect of course. Ideally, you want something sturdy and durable, as well as state of the art. Beam blades are extremely durable, but there other variants that will get the job done just as well.

When to replace it

As a general rule of thumb, you should replace your windshield wiper every six months or after every 6,000 traveled miles. There are more durable variants, but don’t forget that it’s often not the wiper that has a problem, but the pressure points, which simply let go after a while, making the wiper slightly come off the windshield. When that happens, its effectiveness is basically shot, and you will most likely have to replace it. It is not a matter of if, though, but rather a matter of when.

Advantages a new and improved windshield wiper blade can offer

- Reducing the chances of possible accidents

- Improved visibility even under the most extreme weather conditions

- Windshield consistently cleaner, making the car more aesthetically pleasing
